The idea that we can be forced to abandon something that's still abundant is the flaw in thinking. It is all political, the Democratic Party is fixated with the idea of coercion by government is not only okay, it's a positive value. (Until people we will never know control our lives down to the last detail.) This summarized Orwell's warning perfectly.

Couple of minor points though: I have read 2 or 3 different sources which say it was 400,000 trucks (not cars) that were given to Russia under Lend/Lease. Maybe your source is correct so I'm just providing a possible correction.

And you can add that Russia's one and only aircraft carrier has never made a voyage without the help of tow boats! Russia has zero power projection capability - zero!
