If Thwaites Glacier Melts Into the Ocean

One of my favorite YouTube channels is called “Answers With Joe”. In a segment of his latest episode he attempts to answer the question, Just How Screwed Are We If the Thwaites Glacier Collapses?”

I’ve been steaming over the stampede tactic used by the Democratic Party which claims we are facing “a global climate crisis” for years now.

So here is my answer to Joe Scott and to anyone interested in knowing the answer.

The basic answer to the question is really: We’re not seriously screwed and won’t be. That is, with many years to see any rise in sea level, people can literally walk away from encroaching waters. Or they can start planning this year to deal with the coming (inevitable) rise in sea levels. It’s entirely the stampeding tactic of the Democratic Party to instill fear so people not thinking or knowing will believe “that only the party can save us.” If there was ever a planned red herring the whole climate change “crisis” is it. —

* Two additional things about this segment: (1) the figures given here vary considerably from NASA’s projection (and interactive map). NASA’s prediction for TOTAL sea level rise is only in the range of 10 feet — if ALL Earth’s glaciers melt into the sea. (2) In that regard, it’s also important to keep in mind that total melting of glaciers was already reaching the final stage, previous melting had raised the sea level 400 feet! And we’re still talking about the last remaining10–11 feet as if it were a doomsday extinction event.

Like fossil fuels: we’re going to run completely out of glaciers. Yes, when we run out of fossil fuels in about 100 years, human contribution to the “greenhouse gases” will also end. Note that we’re going to “run out of” permafrost too so methane emissions will end with that and keep in mind permafrost covers 2/3rds of Russia and more of Canada’s land masse. Permafrost is where no crops can be grown! We should definitely be looking forward to this inevitable transition to a better planet for people.
