One detail I would like to know is what kind of detonator was used. That’s because dynamite does not explode without first exploding a high explosive. Popularly known as blasting caps these have been in use since dynamite was invented by Alfred Nobel who got the patent in 1867.

Blasting caps can be made by putting copper fulminate in a small copper cylinder.

I do not believe this story because it lacks this critical information.

Those who lack personal experience with chemistry should be more cautious when posting about chemicals like copper fulminate (et al).
