People should also take into account the voluntary abandonment of the pututative victim's right to keep and bear arms. When you consciously give up your right to stop force with counter-force, you make yourself vulnerable.

This "option" has become popular due to the Democratic Party's psychological war against gun ownership. "I am vulnerable therefore I need the law to disarm my spouse or romantic partner." No, you have the ability to stop anyone from harming you. That is the central fact purposely ignored and bypassed by the Democratic Party as part of Democratic Party doctrine. You have given up your own capacity to defend your life. Your continued existence is already protected under the law. In every corner of the United States without exception.

"But I don't like guns." - Do you like staying alive? The Second Amendment because part of our Bill of Rights to serve all while letting the law restrict the few by means of self defense. Never intitiate to the use of force - is the applicable rule. Never initiate is the key phrase. Regardless if gender, your right to use defensive force is for everyone.

"But I don't need a gun." - But having deadly threats appear unexpectedly is common. You don't need a gun - at the moment. No one is competent to predict what will happen in the next hour in a different circumstance than now. You are better off having a gun and being trained in its use than you are if you need to defend yourself but don't have the training and the gun.

" Odds are that I'll never need a gun." -- The odds also say that every year, thousands of people are killed by armed attackers, not any particular kind of attacker.

"I can talk my way out of danger without a gun." True and many people are killed every year to keep them from becoming witnesses against the killer (or rapist).

The State of Michigan has a better version of the 2nd Amendment in its constitution: "Everyone has the right to keep and bear arms for himself and the state."

Michigan is also one of thirty-four states with a "Shall Issue" law That law mandates that applicants for concealed carry licenses meet criteria that include a full day of firearms safety training and legal instructions regarding self-defense use of a firearm. The Michigan State Police are responsible for constant tracking of licensees. Since its inception, the number of licensed adults has grown 1300%. This is more than one in ten Michigan residents.

Before the adoption of these measures, Michigan closely paralleled your version of "the Modern Woman" but has self-corrected.
