This happened on February 1, 1965: I had gone to pick up my good friend George so that we could pick up another friend at around 11:30 PM. I parked in his driveway near the northeast corner of Fairfax and Wiltshire.

George came out with his nephew Bobby. A neighbor named Jay saw us and came to ask if he could go with us to pick up Rick who was about to get off his shift. This didn’t leave much room in my 1965 Chevelle Malibu but we grudgingly let him get into the back seat behind me.

So there were four of us in my car at that moment which would change our view of life forever after. There was George Wright, his nephew Bobby Noel, Jay (last name I cannot recall) and my self Jack R. Noel.

Just as I was about to turn the ignition, Jay began excitedly saying we should look up. I thought he was, as usual, trying to get us to look so he could say, “made you look.” Jay was going to college to become a pharmacist but his personality just plain annoyed me. He was George’s friend not mine.

I told everyone to ignore him but he persisted in a tone that made me finally look up and I saw a bright disk in the sky above us in the cloudless sky. It had no business being there, it couldn’t be the Moon.

So we all got out of my car and stood staring at the object high above. After a minute I asked everyone…
