Worrying about the "fragile state of peace" automatically translates into immediate deterrent reaction to any act of war by the bully nations, in my experience. The more prompt we are in taking action, the more certain the bully nations (Russia, China, et al) can be.

The only mistake made by the European Union and the United States has been to hold back on immediate deterrence against Russia. Everything we've seen since Russia invaded Ukraine shows this to be true.

We can blame the Press for our own lack of initiative because Press benefits from stirring up fears and doubts. The Press does a great disservice to the rest of the world with its colorful exclamations about every possible "apocalypse." It's enough the make a grownup laugh.
